When did West Peabody become Bagdhad? Its like we're under seige.

If the city is so strapped for cash, how bout enforcing the law and ticketing everyone lighting off fireworks.

The same could be said for the Downtown area... and everywhere I have been driving the past few evenings! I guess Americans are feeling good about this country and wanting to celebrate with a BANG?

Of course... all this is just a boon to the New Hampshire economy.

Just a thought I had while doing some reading this weekend -

A small Alabama town got Federal stimulus money to fix a bridge that has very little daily traffic.

A Florida town got Federal stimulus money to build a tunnel for turtles.

Yet, Peabody has NO stimulus money heading its way to fix a 100yr flooding problem that is shovel ready with a plan developed by the Army Corp of Engineers.

So I guess my question is - what the F@#! is Bonfanti and his administration not doing right to get this money and how come the local media has been totally silent on this front?

This project is the perfect example of what the stimulus money is supposed to be used for - it will generate local jobs during the work phase and allow for longer term economic growth within the downtown area.

In fact, when was the last time any State or Federal money headed this way?

This blog is done nothing more than a rumor mill. Sorry PI you were ok while you lasted.

Check out this blog.

Done for? Whatever.

I agree about the lack of stimulus money in Peabody...

And while I can't say that the City government is blameless... the real people who should be Bringing home the Bacon are our State reps and our folks in Washington!

Joyce and Ted have done little in recent months (and sorry friends but it really is all about... "what have you done for me lately?" and we haven't got such great Peabody Pals in our US delegations either.

And to that anon who thinks this is a rumor mill... just email me and we can discuss it if you really would like to know what happens around this place.

And I sure hope that this isn't who I am pretty sure it is because - and I will say this again - I WAS TOLD TO REMOVE THE LINKS TO KEITHS SITE... and not in a very polite way either.

I say, enjoy his site as I do.

Really PI so how were you told? Did someone call you or is there an email? Lets see what it says, let your readers decide.

I'll tell you what...
since it was a personal email (2 actually) from Keith to me, if he is fine with me publishing it, I will.

Simple as that.

But you are going way off base here making this about me vs. Keith (at least I think that is what you are trying to say.)

I have done nothing but promote Keith's blog on my blogs (and ALL the Patriots and PeabodyParent as well) so I don't see what your point is actually.

So tell you what, ask Keith to email me (using his email so I know) and I will publish the email. I wouldn't be surprised if he wouldn't just tell you himself he said these things. Why don't you ask instead of just calling me some kind of liar?

It is funny that now you will not print something that gives your blog some legs. If Keith was so rude maybe that is something the public needs to read. Or is this simply another rumor, accuse him of being rude and back it up with nothing? Do you really think he is going to email you?

Peabody_Insider said...

If you had emailed me in confidence, I would not print the email unless you said it was fine.

Sorry. That is just the way I choose to conduct myself - just as I would like others to do for me.

To go back to the thought about Peabody missing out on the Stimulus money... This article from the Salem News $1.3 million Endicott St. tune up on tap (in Danvers). Yet again we should be asking... why not Peabody?

I've heard rumors that we're often late or make mistakes when applying for state or federal funds. Who's job is this - is this Jean Delios' responsibility?

Peabody_Insider said...

I would guess that Ms. Delios and Community Development would certainly be one group that would be seeking grants, etc. But each department that might be eligible for something (think Public Services, Schools, Library, Police, Fire, etc.) would ultimately be responsible for such efforts.

There had been talk on the Patriot about a Grant Writer position in the schools... but I never heard any more about it.

the bottom line is either these types of activities are made a priority for departments. It DOES take a long time to produce these applications in most cases AND (often) there are costs to do things required by the application process... and you really never know if you are going to get anything for that time and expense. So if the boss isn't setting this as one of your priorities... you are never going to risk the time and expenses with the idea that you might come up empty handed... and get in trouble for it.
