Well...

In general... we got a few new faces... and perhaps one more but it is SO CLOSE in Ward 4 (and trust me I voted!)

But the Council will look mighty similar in any case. A little but of change in the School Committee... I welcome some fresh attitudes.

Bonfanti remains... and while many dislike him - he is overwhelmingly the choice of the people.

Of course the really important races... Electric Light and Library... Congrats Bob and Tom... and all the book worms.

I think that's all the news and analysis I can take for tonight.

I thank the Peabody Patriot site for keeping the numbers rolling in from City Hall all evening.

Let us all hope that our City will be served well by its new and returning leaders in these coming difficult times.

2005- Dunne (re-elected), Moutsoulas(IN), Nizwantowski(IN); Perullo(Did not run for re-election); Borin(Voted Out)

2007- McGeney(re-elected), Charest(IN), Carpenter(IN); Barkowits(Did not seek re-election); Manning(Ran/elected to city council)

Interesting.

Quick question - are the municipal light commissioners paid a salary? Or it just a stipend with benefits?

Probably should have asked this prior to the election, but what does the job even entail?

OG says...
School Committee member probably log more time than City Council memebers...you really have to give up a lot when you decide to run or serve in that capacity...and let me point out that incumbents deciding not to run is a different kind of change than actually being voted out of office...

I don't know for certain but I believe that they do receive some nominal stipend and NOT a salary. However I think they do receive health insurance.

Change is a funny thing...

I agree that a change BY the voters (in electing an challenger over an incumbent) is a bit more dramatic than simply filling a vacant seat.

But the City decided to send one SC member packing... and a SPORTS GUY too boot! That surprised... and pleased me.

So the one place that might get a little attitude adjustment is the SC.

I hope that some minor miracle happens and Grayson pulls off a vote, but I doubt it.

I was thinking how classy it would have been for Driscoll to show up at City Hall WITH Grayson and have them BOTH ask for a recount.

Hey... a guy can dream...

I have been told the Light officials get the same amount as the SC plus Benefits.
